영문 초록 | This research is to survey briefly the key issues of debates and struggles in the process of Christian education through the establishment of Christian schools as the descendants of the Reformed churches of the Netherlands(Christian Reformed Church) settled in the new land of North America. They sought to take root in the new land in order to maintain and develop their unique identities, Christian faith and Reformed vision through their churches. In this regard, the CRC churches played a significant role in the formation of Christian schools. This research, therefore, attempts to delineate the values of the church’s roles in Christian education, its scope, structure and necessity, which they have emphasized and debated over 150 years in CRC history. This researcher will survey the necessity and background of the establishment of Christian schools in the late 19th century. Secondly, the paper will deal with the scope and relative importance of Christian private schools in the early 20th century. Thirdly, the issue of finance with regard to funding and managing Christian schools, which they continue to struggle with today, will be under consideration. In light of the history of the Christian schools in CRC, this researcher attempts to offer some of the implications for the Christian schools in Korea. The research of this paper is based on literature study, which includes important CRC official documents and publications such as the Church Order and Acts of Synod of the CRC. |
