이 글은 미디어학(media studies)을 배경으로 신앙과 학문의 통합을 시도한 사례를 한 연구자의 연구여정을 정리한 형태로 제시한다. 이 연구자는 미디어와 종교의 교차점을 탐색하기 위해 문화연구의 이론적, 방법론적 성과를 적용하였다. 그는 수용자 연구, 제작 연구, 텍스트 분석 등 미디어 커뮤니케이션 과정을 종합적으로 접근하여 관련현상에 대한 총체적 이해를 도모하였는데, 이러한 경험적 연구의 결과를 기독교적 시각에서 재해석함으로써 신앙과 학문의 통합을 시도하였다. 이 글에서는 최근 몇 년간 수행한 경험적 연구에 대한 재해석의 결과들을 정리하였으며 그것을 종합하여 개신교 공동체를 위한 몇 가지 제언도 제시하였다. 앞으로 이 여정은 완결을 향해 계속될 것이며, 미디어학 분야에서 다양한 방식으로 신앙과 학문의 통합이 시도되는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다. |
| 영문 초록 |
This paper is a personal journey of a researcher who has integrated faith and scholarship in the field of media studies. The researcher applies cultural studies’ theoretical and methodological approaches in his exploration of the intersections between media and religion. The paper attempts to illustrate his way of integration of faith and scholarship by suggesting re-interpretations of his recent empirical studies of audience research, textual analysis and production analysis. The re-interpreted results of those studies as well as several points of suggestion for the Protestant community are listed here. It is also expected that this paper would contribute to encouraging diverse ways of integration of the two in media studies. |
