We are living in the world of psychospiritual dualism whether we prefer or not, because there has been a deep separation and no talk each other between religion and science, especially spiritual cure and psychological counselling for the last several hundred years. However, the Bible tells us man should be viewed as a whole psychospiritual being, not as a separated parts, and the cure work of human problems and ailments should be performed from the integrated viewpoint including psychobiological treatment and spiritual growth at the same time. Recently many christian counselors and theologists actively tried to integrate the psychological and psychiatric knowledge to their christian belief system. The author discussed the practical meaning of integration, redebated about the negative debate of spiritual reductionists such as Bobgan and Adams against the integrationists. The author agreed with integrationists` position that all truth including counseling psychology and psychotherapy is God`s truth, but, of course, there is hierarchy of truths, in which biblical revelation is the utmost one. The author also presented the limitations of integration work, warning several possible dangers of the work, and tried to illustrate an integrated explanation of christian cure from the theory of dynamic psychotherapy and the traditional christian concept of spiritual growth. |
