The objective of this paper is to study the biblical principles of borrowing and lending. For this purpose, four things have been done. First, various social problems were recognized largely due to the phenomina of increase in debt financing by household, business, and the government. Second, the dangers and causes of debt were examined. Third, twelve biblical principles of borrowing and lending were observed and examined. Lastly, although debt financing is not prohibited in the Bible, debt is not looked upon as normal for God`s people. Therefore, Christians need to be careful when they borrow, and are encouraged to live as lenders, not as borrowers. |
