1991년 소련 해체이후 국제질서는 급속히 변화하고 있다. 초강대국으로 부상한 미국은 세계를 미국 중심으로 재편하기 위해 노력을 가속화하고 있다. 미국의 이러한 패권주의 정책에 대하여 이슬람 세력이 국제적 저항운동을 노골화하자 세계는 마치 전통적 기독교 세계와 이슬람 세계가 충돌하는 문명의 충돌의 양상으로 갈등이 증폭되고 있다. 미국의 입장에서는 정치, 경제 등 모든 영역에서 자유의 가치가 최우선시 되어야 한다고 주장하는 반면, 저항하는 이슬람 근본주의자들 및 비서구권 지도자들은 종교적 및 민족적 특수 가치가 존중되어야 한다고 주장한다. 9.11 사태이후 미국은 저항하는 이슬람 세력을 반문명 세력으로 규정하고 무력으로 해결하려고 하고 있으나 오히려 글로벌 지하드 운동을 확산시키는 결과를 낳고 있다. 이란 종교 지도자 호메이니 이후 그랬듯이 이슬람 세력은 전쟁에서 패배하지만 이슬람 종교는 폭발적인 부흥을 지속하고 있다. 한편 작금의 이러한 현상을 급진적(radical) 종교 세력이 자행한 일시적인 테러로 축소 평가하는 경향이 있는가 하면, 반면 소비에트 체제 해체 이후 세계 국제질서의 재편과정에서 발발한 종교와 문명을 기축으로 하는 새로운 냉전(New Cold War) 질서의 표현으로 보는 견해도 있다. 수천 년 전 고대 메소포타미아 출신 아브라함의 가정에서 시작되어 두 이복형제 이삭과 이스마엘 사이에 시작된 형제갈등의 지구적 팽창을 목도하며 그 추이를 예의 주시하는 기독교인들도 적지 않다. 본 발표에서는 소련 해체이후 재편되는 경제적 자유주의를 기축으로하는 신국제질서와 9.11 사태 이후 급속히 발전하고 있는 서구문명 대 이슬람문명의 대결구도와 그 의미를 살펴보고 서구문명의 세계화 혹은 세계의 서구화에 따른 인류공동체의 현상과 추이를 가름해 보고자 한다. |

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the international order has been changed in a tremendous speed. The world superpower United States has sustained its efforts to structure the world system for its own way. While Islamic world has manifested its resistant movements in an international level against the American world superpower policy, the conflicts between traditional Christians and Islamic world have been culminated to the apex of the crash of the civilizations. The U. S. A asserts that their own political and economic national interests should be considered first, but the resisting Islamic fundamentalists and non-western leaders insist that their religious and ethnic and cultural values have to be put on the first place. After the 911 incident, the American foreign policy - that the resisting Islamic structures are deemed as non-civilized and those need to be controlled by the military might -has rather resulted in spreading the global Jihad movements. As was the same in the case of post Iranian fundamental islamic leader Khomeini, in the Islam world they were defeated in wars, but the strength of islam religion continues to be rapidly growing. Some have regarded this phenomenon as sporadic terrorist acts by the radical religious extremists, and the others may have considered as the result from the process in reformulating the international order of the New Cold War with the axis of religion and civilization after the demise of the Soviet Union. On the other hand, some Christian people see this as the global expand of the family conflicts between Isaac and Ismael, who were from the same father of Abraham , but who had different mothers in the ancient Mesopotamia era. This thesis is aimed to focus on the New World Order, which has been reformulated on the basis upon the economic neo - liberalism after the Soviet Union had collapsed, and to review the significances of the conflicts between the western and islamic civilizations. Furthermore, it will present the globalization of the western civilizations and their consequent phenomena and trends in terms of the human geocommunity. |
