Okhokiyon is a new stile novel in the flowering time that saying happening strange relation until marriage of (a head of village) Mr Ju`s son, Makdongi and Yu tong-jeong`s daughter, Keum-ju. There is a view of the Christian world of repentance, forgiveness and love in space among lines spreading out a course of curious meeting, trouble and compromise between a hero and a heroine. There are An kuk-sun`s Keumsu-heuilok, Kim pil-su`s Kyeongsejong, Lee sang-hyup`s Nunmul, Choi Byeong heons` Sungsan-myeongkyeong, a woman Bae ui-lyang`s Koyeongkyujeon and BuBu of Mobon and etc in works containing a view of the Christian as a new stile novel like Okhokiyon. Specially Bakyeon Pokpo have something in common with Okhokiyon in that it have a same subject of discord, penitence and pardon in which a hero and a heroine have a experience. The background of activity of the characters in the novel in the opening part of Okhokiyon is a place for Deungbulnori in April 8 and this novel have christian culture in center of the happy ending which the characters show in the end. This shows that the novel, Okhokiyon makes a Korea cultural heritage be harmony with western christian civilization, has a new mind to develope the spirit of the age. Character of the works such as this, has universality of the times literature in the flowering time in process to move from classical literature toward current literature Sentence from of Okhokiyon is polished style of a story of ancient times but because it has also spacing word, dialogue style, life based on Christian culture, it is known that this novel is Korea novel of the flowering time. Christian Culture appeared in Okhokiyon contains instruction of western christian culture, christian marriage culture which is center of Creator, God, and Christian culture through the medium of dialogue in Keum-ju`s human relation and thinking appears. Makdongi`s negative figure and change of it and appearance of fact as it is, help build the reality of novel. Feature of this novel is that it does not only deal with a political idea and shock of western civilization as one of material but also focus on internal change of a figure. Many other works treats severe subject about issue of nation and a people but this novel concern about mistake of a individual that sometimes pass over or regard it as unimportant and, concern about repentance through the view of the Christian world and writing of happy ending unlike other works. A perfect hero or heroin very often comes on stage on classical literature. But Makdongi, a hero in this novel, is a very defective criminal. This novel embosses human existence with course that he repent and change. Okhokiyon express subject of repentance, pardon, meeting by a hero and heroine in God, the Creator with acceptance and integration of western christian culture, and have a important literary meaning because it is known to many people by publishing this great impressive story. I wish I help a little construct literary sense of literature in the flowering time, the turning point of korea literature in `Study on Christian culture appeared in Okhokiyon`. |
