자크 엘륄(Jacques Ellul)의 신학 사상의 특징은 이렇게 나타난다. 첫째, ‘현실’과 ‘진리’는 그의 특유의 변증법적 방식을 통해 결합되고 통일된다는 것이다. 둘째, ‘종교적 신심’과 ‘참된 신앙’이 구별되듯이, ‘종교’는 ‘계시’에 대립된다는 것이다. 셋째, 이 시대의 현상으로서 ‘하나님과의 단절’이 제시된다는 것이다. ‘하나님과 단절’ 시대에서의 ‘소망’은 기다림이나 혹은 확신만이 아니라, 하나님의 거부와 침묵과 돌아섬 앞에서의 인간의 확고부동한 요구이면서 하나님에게 전해지는 도발이다. ‘하나님과의 단절’ 시대에서 그리스도인의 참된 기도는, 하나님이 우리에게 돌아와 다시 말하도록 요청하는 끈질기고 투쟁적인 기도가 되어야 한다. 넷째, 자유는 예수 그리스도 안에서 얻어지는데, ‘예수 그리스도 안에서의 자유’만이 진정한 자유이다. 다섯째, 그리스도인이 자유를 체험해야 하는 것은 세상 속에서이며, 세상에는 그 자유가 구체적으로 적용되는 영역들이 있다는 것이다. 여섯째, 그리스도인들은 자신들 사이의 연계된 행위를 통해 새로운 삶의 방식을 창조하고 추구해야 한다는 것이다. 그러한 특징들을 지닌 엘륄의 신학 사상에 대한 평가는 주로 이렇게 이루어진다. 첫째, 엘륄은 자신의 신학 사상을 통해 자신이 하나님의 사람이자 그리스도인임을 드러내고, 시대의 ‘예언자’로 간주된다는 것이다. 둘째, 소망에 근거한 엘륄의 신학 사상은 그리스도인과 이스라엘의 일치와 연합을 지향하고, ‘하나님의 죽음 신학’에 맞선다는 것이다. 셋째, 현대 신학에 대한 엘륄의 기여는 엄청나며, 현대 신학에 진정으로 공헌을 한 그의 신학적 방법은 특별한 힘을 갖고 있다는 것이다. |

Characteristics of the theological thought of Jacques Ellul are showed up like this: First, the ‘reality’ and the ‘truth’ are combined and unified through his unique dialectical method. Second, as the ‘religious belief’ is distinguished from the ‘true faith,’ the ‘religion’ is opposed to the ‘revelation.’ Third, the ‘dereliction’ is suggested as the symptom of this age. In the age of the ‘dereliction,’ the ‘hope’ is not only the wait or conviction, but the firm demand of men and their provocation transmitted to God in the face of the rejection and silence of God and his turning the back on them. In the age of the ‘dereliction,’ the true prayer of Christians should be a persistent and combative prayer asking God to return and speak again to us. Fourth, the liberty is obtained in Jesus Christ, and only ‘the liberty in Jesus Christ’ is the true liberty. Fifth, it is in the world that Christians should experience the liberty, and in the world there are realms to which it is concretely applied. Sixth, the Christians should create and pursue the new style of life by means of the connected acts among themselves. Reflections on the theological thought of Ellul which contains such characteristics are as follows: First, Ellul reveals himself as a man of God and as a Christian through his theological thought, and he is regarded as the ‘prophet’ of the age. Second, the theological thought of Ellul based on the ‘hope’ aims at alliance and accordance between Christians and Israel, and it stands against ‘the theology of the death of God.’ Third, Ellul's contribution to the contemporary theology is extraordinary, and his theological method which has truly contributed to the contemporary theology has the very special force. |
