| 국문 초록 | 알프레드 노스 화이트헤드는 20세기의 가장 중요한 수학자요 철학자이다. 수학자로서 화이트헤드는 버트란트 러셀과 함께 수학에 논리적 기초를 놓기 위해서 노력했다. 그들의 작업은 수리논리학의 발전에 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 철학자로서 화이트헤드는 근대 과학과 철학에 대한 철저한 철학적 비판을 수행했으며, 우리 시대를 위한 독창적인 철학적 우주론을 건축했다. 그의 철학적 작업들은 근대과학과 철학의 본질적인 약점과 곤경을 극복하는 견실한 길을 보여주고 있다. 이 논문은 기독교 변증학의 입장에서 종종 과정사상이라고 불리는 화이트헤드의 철학에 초점을 둔다. 화이트헤드의 철학적 주 저작들을 분석하면서 이 논문은 화이트헤드의 철학이 여러 가지로 기독교 변증학에 기여한다는 것을 주장하며 설명한다. 이 논문은 다음의 순서를 따른다. 첫째로, 다양한 전공과 배경을 가진 독자들을 위해서 화이트헤드의 철학적 경력과 주된 출판물들을 간략히 소개한다. 둘째로 화이트헤드의 주된 공헌들을 기독교 변증학의 관점에서 소개한다. 우리는 다음 다섯 가지의 공헌을 발견한다: 과학적 유물론에 대한 화이트헤드의 비판, 철학적 유물론에 대한 비판, 그의 존재론과 인식론적 공헌, 그의 유신론적 우주론, 그리고 마지막으로 철학의 목적에 대한 그의 견해이다. 또한 이 논문은 말미에 화이트헤드의 철학의 공헌의 한계도 설명한다. |
| 영문 초록 | Alfred North Whitehead is one of the most important mathematicians and philosophers of the 20th century. As mathematician Whitehead endeavored, with Bertrand Russell, to lay the logical foundations to mathematics. Their works mark an important position in the development of symbolic logic. As philosopher Whitehead performed a thorough philosophical critique of modern science and philosophy. He also constructed an original philosophical cosmology for our time. His philosophical works show a solid way to overcome the essential weaknesses and pitfalls of modern science and philosophy. This article focuses on the philosophy of Whitehead, which is often called Process Thought from the perspective of Christian apologetics. Analyzing major works of Whitehead, this article claims and explains that Whitehead’s philosophy severally contributes to Christian apologetics. This article follows the following order. First, Whitehead’s philosophical career and his major publications are briefly introduced for the readers from diverse majors and backgrounds. Second, Whitehead’s major philosophical contributions are discussed from the perspective of Christian apologetics. We find five such contributions: Whitehead’s critique of scientific materialism, his critique of philosophical materialism, his monistic ontology and epistemology, his theistic cosmology and finally his Platonic view on the aim of philosophy. At the end this article also explains the limitedness of Whitehead’s philosophical contributions to Christian apologetics. |
