| 국문 초록 | 빌 비올라는 비디오 아트 분야에서 가장 활발하게 활동해 온 작가다. 비올라의 예술은 종교와 철학의 경계를 넘나든다. 이 세계는 매우 정신적인 것으로서, 개인적인 경험에서 비롯된 영적, 신체적 깨달음에 기반하여, 출생과 죽음, 사후 세계와 부활 같은 주제의 깊은 곳으로 들어간다. 중요한 것은 이 세계는 신비주의적이고 범신론적인 영적 성향을 띠고 있다는 점이다. 기독교적 종말론적 교리와 선불교의 윤회론이 나란히 호출되고 충돌 없이 뒤섞인다. 비올라의 비디오 아트에 확연하게 드러나는 영적 혼합주의 성향에 대해 살펴보는 것, 그리고 이에 대한 세속 사회의 이해와 평가가 어떠한가와 상관없이, 이 문제를 기독교 신앙의 지평에서 신중하게 되짚어보는 것이 이 논의의 목적이다. 하나님의 계시에 기반하는 기독교의 구원 신앙과 불교의 윤회설은 그 둘 가운데 어느 하나를 진리로 만드는 것에 의해 다른 하나는 진리가 아닌 것이 되기 때문이다. 이 논의는 더 크고 궁극적인 목적에 수렴한다. “그리스도의 십자가만이 앎에 이르는 유일한 문”임을 이 시대의 흐트러진 지적 각성의 중심으로 다시 초대하는 것이 그것이다. |
| 영문 초록 | Bill Viola is the most active writer in the field of video art. Viola's art crosses the line between religion and philosophy. This world is very spiritual, and based on spiritual and physical enlightenment from personal experience, it enters deep into themes such as birth and death, afterlife and resurrection. What is important is that this world has a mystical and pantheistic spiritual orientation. The Christian apocalyptic doctrine and the reincarnation of Zen Buddhism are called side by side and mixed without conflict. The purpose of this discussion is to look at the tendency of spiritual hybridism to be evident in viola's video art, and, regardless of the understanding and evaluation of the secular society, carefully reflect the issue on the Christian horizon. This is because the Christian belief in salvation based on the revelation of God and the reincarnation theory of Buddhism are not true by making either of them true. This discussion converges on a larger and ultimate purpose. It is to invite "Christ's cross is the only door to knowing" back to the center of the disorganized intellectual awakening of this era. |
