| 국문 초록 | 한국의 학교교육과 관련하여 항구적인 논쟁중의 하나는 고교평준화 정책이다. 고교평준화 정책은 중학교 교육과정의 정상화, 공정한 교육기회 제공, 학교간의 교육격차 해소 등 학교교육 정상화에 많이 기여했다. 그러나 평준화를 찬성하는 진영과 반대하는 진영 사이에는 학생 혹은 학부모의 학교선택권 문제를 둘러싼 당위논리와 사실논리의 대립, 하향평준화의 근거가 심리적 이유에 의한 것인지 경험적 증거에 의한 것인지에 대한 대립, 사립학교의 자율권 부여에 대한 원칙주의와 현실주의의 대립 등 첨예한 논쟁이 있어 왔다. 평준화 교육은 학교교육을 획일화한다는 점, 사립학교의 성격이 불분명하다는 점, 종교교육을 제약한다는 점에서 한계를 가지고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 기독교학교는 소극적으로 제도가 허락하는 범위 내에서 조용히 기독교교육을 실천하든지, 아니면 보다 적극적으로 사립학교의 자율성을 요구하거나 자립형 사립고등학교를 운영할 필요가 있다. |
| 영문 초록 | One of the perennial debates on Korean school education is the issue of high school equalization policy. The purpose of this paper is to examine the debate on the high school equalization policy and to suggest some implications for Christian schools. High school equalization policy has contributed to normalization of middle school education, equal opportunities, minimization of quality gap between high schools. However, there is much debated on the following issues: what is and ought to be in relation to school choice; popular reason vs. empirical evidence on effects of equalization on educational quality; in principle vs. in reality of private school autonomy. The high school equalization policy has limitations as follows: difficulties of allowing diversity of school''s educational aims; difficulties from having a private school identity; and difficulties from professing religious beliefs and values. Under the present circumstances, Christian schools should make efforts in two ways: firstly, they practise Christian education in a tacit way; secondly, in a positive way they should claim the autonomy of a private school in general and a Christian school in particular or switch from a private school in the public system to an independent private school outside the system. |
