| 국문 초록 | 본 논문은 최근 덕 윤리학자들 사이에서 연구되는 내러티브의 특징에 주목하고 있다. 아리스토텔레스 이후 오랫동안 윤리학에서 중요한 개념으로 자리 잡아 왔던 덕 윤리는 중세 아퀴나스에 의해 명맥을 유지하다가 근대에는 점차 배제되었다. 하지만 맥킨타이어(Maclntyre)를 시작으로 덕에 관한 다양한 관점들이 다시 제기되고 있다. 특히 하우어워즈는 맥킨타이어가 주장한 내러티브 개념을 독창적으로 자신의 윤리에 접목시키면서 덕 윤리 논의를 발전시키고 있다. 하우어워즈에게 내러티브는 그 자체가 진실성과 보편성을 담지하고 있는 제1 원리로 수용되면서 내러티브 윤리를 향해 제기되는 단점을 방법론적으로 극복하고자 한다. 본 논문은 하우어워즈의 내러티브 윤리가 아직 완성되지 않은 진행적인 논의이지만 내러티브 방법론을 토대로 하나의 윤리적 모델을 제시했다는 점에 주목하고 그의 윤리 방법론과 특징들을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. |
| 영문 초록 | This study focuses on the importance of narratives'' roles in recent virtue ethics. For a long time since Aristotle, the Virtue Ethics consolidated its position as the important concept in ethics kept its name by Aquinas in medieval times. Alaisdare MacIntyre, a representative virtue ethicist, had completed the system of Virtue Ethics as appropriately using the advantages and disadvantages of Virtue ethics. However, MacIntyre did not find the answers to how human experiences can be communicate in diverse traditions and narratives. Stanley Hauerwas uniquely connected his ethics to the narratives having this question. He deliberately thought about how Aristotle''s Virtue Ethics could be accepted after MacIntyre. There were many scholars emphasizing the importance of narratives before Hauerwas, however the narratives were only the means to supplement virtue or character. Hauerwas suggested the narratives as one of moral principles and worried about how to overcome the disadvantages of Virtue Ethics. This study aims to investigate the truthfulness of Narrative Ethics as examining whether the narratives supplemented the virtue ethics can be equally discussed with the virtue and the limited narratives of Hauerwas materialized this Narrative Ethics can be generally accepted. |
