본 논문은 초기 한국 개신교 여성의 개종 이야기가 가진 종교적 의미를 파악하고자 하는 목적을 갖고 있다. 초기 개신교의 경우, 신도 대부분이 여성이었던 상황에서 여성의 개신교 선택과 그 특징, 의미들을 파악하는 것은 매우 중요함에도 불구하고, 아직까지 본격적인 논의 대상이 되지 못했다. 본 연구는 당시 개신교계 잡지, 신문, 저서들을 연구 자료로 삼아, 여성들의 개종 동기와 경로를 파악하고 여성 개종 이야기의 특징이 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 이를 통해서 여성들에게 개종은 단순히 일회적인 사건이 아니라 그들이 개신교를 살아가는 삶 그 자체였음을 확인할 수 있었다.

This paper aims to illuminate the religious meanings of Women Conversions in early modern Korean Protestantism. Though most of believers are women in Christianity, women conversion haven''t been seriously studied so far. In early modern times, Women made their dreams come true in Protestantism. Then, What made their attentions to Protestantism? What were their experiences? What were the meaning of conversion to women? To get these answers, It focused on the various stories of Women Conversion through analysing their conversion motifs, networks, and the characters of their own experiences. |
