| 국문 초록 | 이 논문은 현대 교육에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있으면서 동시에 그에 못지않은 비판을 받고 있는 듀이의 교육관을 이해하고, 그러한 교육관이 기독교 교육에 주는 함의를 밝히기 위한 것이다. 이러한 목적을 위해, 듀이 교육관의 학문적 배경을 검토하였고, 그의 교육관을 교육목적관, 교육 내용관, 교육방법 면에서 고찰하였으며, 이에 비추어 기독교 교육에 주는 시사점을 제시했다. 듀이 교육관의 학문적 배경은 프라그마티즘, ·진화론적 사고, 종합적 사고, 민주적 사고이다. 듀이의 교육관과 그것의 기독교적 함의는 크게 교육목적관, 교육 내용관, 교육방법관의 측면에서 살펴볼 수 있다. 그의 교육목적관은 '내재적' 교육목적관과 교육목적으로서의 '성장'으로 특징지을 수 있다. 이에 비추어 보면, 기독교 교육은 '주를 믿는 것과 아는 것을 성장시키는 교육'이어야 한다. 그의 교육내용관은 '아동과 교과'와의 연속성과 '교과와 교과'간의 연속성을 강조한다. 기독교 교육은 성경의 의미가 아동의 경험과 연결되도록 하여 그것이 삶의 일부가 되도록 가르쳐야 한다. 듀이의 교육 방법관은 교과내용과 교육방법 간의 연속성, 심리적 교육방법과 사고·탐구간의 균형을 중시한다. 교회 교육은 목하 성경내용을 학생이 '이해할 수 있는 방식'으로 가르쳐야 하며, 그러한 과정에서 그 의미를 충분히 '사고하고 깨달을 수 있도록' 해야 한다. 이 글은 교육학적 체계에서 기독교 교육의 함의를 이끌어 내는 방식을 취했지만, 반대로 기독교 관점에서 교육학을 비판적으로 논의하는 작업이 동시에 필요하다. |
| 영문 초록 | The purpose of this paper is to investigate Dewey's view of education and its implications for Christian education. To this end, I explore Dewey's academic backgrounds and his educational view of education in terms of educational aims, educational contents, and educational methods. Dewey's view of education is mainly influenced by pragmatic thinking, scientific-evolutionary thinking, synthetic thinking and democratic thinking. Therefore, he rejects any kinds of dualism. Regarding educational aims, Dewey addresses the intrinsic aim and growth as an educational aim. In this respect, Christian education should focus on enhancing the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Lord. Regarding educational contents, Dewey stresses continuity between the child and subject matter, between subjects and subjects. Christian education do not to separate between biblical subjects and secular subjects, but to bridge the gap between subjects and child's experiences. Regarding educational methods, Dewey underlines continuity between educational contents and educational methods, and balancing between the intellect and the emotions. Teaching should be delivered in a way that subjects should fully be understood and revealed on the part of the learner. |
