이 논문은 기독교 신앙의 관점에서 영화를 연구하는 '기독교 영화학'을 수립하기 위한 시론의 성격을 갖는다. 1895년 영화의 역사가 시작된 이후, 대체로 기독교는 영화를 부정적으로 바라보아 왔다. 미국의 기독교와 그 영향아래 있던 한국의 기독교도 영화를 신앙과 상관없거나 파괴하는 부정적인 세속문화로 간주해 왔다. 그러나 영화의 가치를 발견한 사람은 사업가와 정치가들이었다. 이들의 후원아래 영화는 20세기에 들어서 비약적으로 발전했다. 영화는 단순한 오락이 아니라, 예술로 인정되었고 대학에서 연구되는 학문분야가 되었다. 이러한 시대의 변화에 의해 기독교도 영화를 긍정적으로 보기 시작했다. 기독교는 선교영화를 긍정적으로 생각한 반면에, 일반 영화에 대해서는 소극적인 태도를 취해왔다. 그러나 이제는 기독교에서 직접적인 복음전파를 위한 '구속 영화'와 하나님의 창조와 구원의 의미를 일반적으로 표현하는 '구속적 영화' 모두를 긍정적으로 발전시켜야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 기독교의 입장에서 영화의 대중 예술적 성격을 규명하는 연구와 교육과정이 필요하다. |

In this paper I discuss how Christianity view the cinema and why it have to studies the cinema as God's work. Since 1985 the cinema began, Christianity in USA and also in Korea have been neglected it. Moreover they found the danger of the unbelief. Through the 20th century the cinema had a great success. It changed the society and the criterium of the arts. The cinema became a subject which was studied in the universities. In this situation Christianity have to change the viewpoint of cinema. Christians have to acknowledge not only a 'redemption film', which deals with the evangelization, but a 'redemptive film', which deals with the creational and general goodness. It will be the task to develop the Christian studies of cinema in this context. |
